A client in Johannesburg asked me to create a matching set of jackets for her and her fiance. She chose the colour of the corduroy that we would keep as the primary base, but left the rest up to me. Both women have different body shapes and different senses of style. I didn’t want to just recreate the same jacket but still needed them to look like they belonged together. So I went looking for soft, gently material to use as an inner and found something called Printed Airflow.
I chose two different but complimentary prints for each jacket and adjusted the pattern for each. I then handmade all the finishings you see, including the initials of each woman.

This fabric is so soft and makes the jacket a lot more comfortable to wear. I find raw corduroy can be a little scratchy.

Her you can see how different the inners are, but they still look like they belong together.

Matchy Matchy :)

As I continue to experiment with polymer clay, these customisations will just get better and better.

You never know when a popped collar is needed. So I planned appropriately by adding the same inner to the back and included an facing inside that, once ironed, becomes nice and stiff and holds its integrity.

What I love about dark green tones is how it compliments all skin tones.
